"The Pearly White City," based on John's description of heaven in chapter 21 of the book of Revelation, was written by Arthur Forrest Ingler in 1902. Ingler was born May 12, 1873, in Montandon, Pennsylvania. A Nazarene preacher, he pastored churches in Oregon, Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Although he wrote a few other hymns, this is the one that has survived. It was recorded by the Blackwood Brothers in 1961, the Cathedral Quartet in 1964, and George Beverly Shea in 1965.
